Concord’s second weekend is an open beta for all players

Missed the Concord beta during early access? Good news: While Concord’s first weekend was only available to PS Plus subscribers and those who pre-ordered the game, the second weekend of playtime for the don’t-call-it-Overwatch shooter a full open beta, available to anyone who wants to play.

Here’s when you can play the Concord open beta, and what you can expect from the second weekend.

Ignore the dates — the times for the first beta and the second beta are the same.

The Concord open beta is available on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC and starts on Thursday, July 18 at 1 pm ET. Here’s the Concord beta start time in your time zone:

  • 10 a.m PDT for the west coast of North America
  • 1 p.m. EDT for the east coast of North America
  • 6 p.m. BST for the U.K.
  • 7 p.m. CEST for western Europe / Paris
  • 2 a.m. JST on July 19 for Tokyo

You can pre-download the open beta starting Wednesday, July 17, at 1 pm ET. Wondering if your PC can handle it? Here’s a rundown of the required PC specs for Concord.

When does the Concord open beta end?

Concord’s open beta runs through Sunday, July 21, though neither developer Firewalk Studios nor publisher PlayStation Studios have announced a specific end time.

For context, the early access beta ended at 3 pm ET on Monday, July 15, but only because Firewalk extended its availability — so it’s possible the same might happen here.

What to expect from the Concord open beta

Everything from the early access beta will be playable during the open beta, plus one additional map and one additional mode. For the open beta, that means you’ll have access to:

  • 16 characters (or “freegunners,” to use the game’s parlance)
  • Five maps, including the four from the early access beta (Freewater, Water Hazard, Star Chamber, Shock Risk) plus one new one (Bone Mines)
  • Four modes: Trophy Hunt, that’s the closest thing to a typical deathmatch; Cargo Run, a mode without respawns that requires capturing and defending a zone; Clash Point, another mode without respawns that’s contingent on fighting the enemy team for control of a single area; and the newly added Area Control, that’s basically a multi-zone king of the hill (with respawns)

Does Concord progress carry over?

If you played the early access beta, your progress will carry over to the open beta.

But don’t get your hopes up — your progress from either beta will not carry over to the full launch. You will, however, get a weapon charm and profile card cosmetic for use when Concord launches on PS5 and Windows PC on Tuesday, August 23.
