Soul Reaver 1 2 Remaster Fails to Show at ComicCon Leak Called Into Question

In case you didn't see the stories over the weekend, a Soul Reaver statue was on display at San Diego Comic-Con, and it was accompanied by a rather exciting plaque, which credited the statue to 'Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered'. Now, obviously, this threw nostalgic onlookers into a frenzy, and it's fair to say that a lot of people were looking forward to an announcement during the event.
However, that announcement never came. And as a result, doubt has been cast over the original leak. So, what's going on?
