Sonic Team Boss Would Love to Explore a Sonic RPG Someday
Gotta level up fast.
Takashi Iizuka, head of SEGA's Sonic Team, wonders how we've come this far without a proper Sonic RPG. It remains a dream, and he is unwilling to commit to anything concrete, yet the thought remains an intriguing one.
In an interview with Good Vibes Gaming (thanks, VGC), Iizuka was asked whether the studio might tackle a roleplaying game in the future. While 2008's Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for Nintendo DS is an RPG, it was made externally by Mass Effect developer BioWare. He responded: "Personally, I like role-playing games. The RPG game format is a lot of fun, and I’ve even thought to myself, ‘You know, for the past 30 years, we haven’t done a Sonic RPG,’and I’m questioning myself, ‘Why haven’t we done a Sonic RPG in all this time?
