Elden Ring Nightreign is creeping ever closer, expected to release on PS5 and PS4 in 2025. The sped-up pace of play will mean significant changes from the traditional FromSoft formula, and you'd better believe that Hidetaka Miyazaki's obsession with horrific, soul-sucking swamps will continue, despite the spinoff being directed by one of his hand-picked acolytes, Junya Ishizaki.
Speaking to PC Gamer ahead of magazine issue 405 (thanks, GamesRadar+), Ishizaki revealed that players can expect "large-scale changes to terrain in the form of procedurally appearing volcanoes, swamps, or forests." The director, whose career progressed from map designer on the original Dark Souls to game designer on Bloodborne, to lead game designer on Dark Souls III, then lead battle designer on Elden Ring, explains his ethos for the multiplayer outing and how a particular session might go:
