Rumours of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Version Swirl Again
Alongside a Switch 2 version, apparently.
One of the most unexplainable things of the PS5 generation so far is how Red Dead Redemption 2 has never been given a current-gen patch. It's perfectly playable on PS5 in backwards compatibility, but you're locked to 30 frames-per-second and an inferior resolution compared to what's available on Xbox Series X|S.
Rumours in the past few years have suggested Rockstar has actually had some form of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 version in the works, but those plans were shelved due to the development of GTA 6. Back in 2022, it was suggested by Rockstar insider Tez2 that the developer had cancelled its plans to bring back the first game and its sequel for modern hardware.
