How to get Ethereal Stars in Infinity Nikki

As part of the 1.5 update for Infinity Nikki, players can collect Ethereal Stars in the Sea of Stars to make the iconic miracle outfit that goes by the same name. You’ll need tons of Ethereal Stars to unlock the nodes in the Heart of Infinity skill tree to make the Sea of Stars outfit, but how do you actually get them?

Before we get into this, I should note that the current state of Infinity Nikki 1.5 is tremendously buggy. Even I’m confused about how some of these acquisition methods work, because I cannot for the life of me figure out if the system is bugged or if this is just how it’s supposed to work? Based on Infinity Nikki community response, many players seem to be in the same boat.

Below, this guide explains how to get Ethereal Stars in Infinity Nikki (at least how we think you’re supposed to).

Update (April 30): We’ve updated this guide with more information about using the bell on Warp Nexuses to earn stars.

How to get Ethereal Stars in Infinity Nikki

You can only get a finite number of Ethereal Stars per day, so you’ll want to make sure to complete these dailies in order to flesh out your Heart of Infinity.

There are two methods to grabbing these stars:

  • Complete the “Starlit Moments” dailies in the Sea of Stars area for eight Ethereal Stars every day. These tasks just involve taking pictures and interacting with various attractions in the Sea of Stars.
  • Ring the bell near Warp Nexuses in the Sea of Stars area to summon and mark a few collectable Ethereal Stars every day.

Note that throughout April 29, using the bell at the Warp Nexus was largely bugged. It appears to be working again for me personally today (April 30), but the feature still seems like it’s not working at 100% for some players.

Some players have also speculated that the bell-based stars may be on its own separate daily timer rather then resetting at the normal daily reset time (kind of like how animal material collecting used to work in older versions) — which lines up with our experience.

All of that said, I’ll figure things out more when the dust settles and the bugs get patched up. Developer InFold Games has already posted acknowledging that version 1.5 is a mess, but their announcement doesn’t really address this (or some of the other bugs I’ve encountered in the Sea of Stars, either).

When reached out for comment via email, InFold Games told Polygon the following:

The mechanic is that Ethereal Stars only grow the first time you ring the bell near the Sea of Stars warp points each day, and there’s a daily cap on how many Ethereal Stars you can collect.

QA reported that this might be an occasional bug according to the description. They’ve received similar user complaints and are currently looking into it.

So, collect what you can and keep trying. We’ll update this guide as things continue to get fixed(?).
