Bungie Apologises for Its Widespread Destiny 2 DLC Launch Issues

No online game or update will ever roll out completely flawlessly, but as the pivotal final chapter in its story released just yesterday, the Destiny 2 servers were essentially brought to their knees. New expansion The Final Shape is designed to be a sort of conclusion to the current narrative saga, so the surge of interest to see how the story ends caused a lot of players to be stuck at the login screen, unable to find a slot in the overwhelmed servers.

Even when they were able to log in and start the new campaign, further problems resulted in some being kicked from the game during a mission and missing out on important plot cutscenes. Bungie took to Twitter to explain the situation, saying the login errors were related to "failures in our load balancer machines. We were forced to route traffic around them and partially mitigated this issue within 2 hours of launch."
