Amphibious Horrors Await in the Distorted World of The Sinking City 2 on PS5

Lovecraft would love it.

After the public legal hubbub that surrounded the original The Sinking City, developer Frogwares is back to focusing on expanding the franchise – and it’s announced a sequel for PS5, which is currently slated for release in 2025. The Sinking City 2 is set in 1920s America, when a supernatural flood brings Eldritch-like horrors to the city of Arkham. This is being billed as a brand-new, standalone story, unrelated to the original.

The game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, and is promising a “horror-first” experience, so you can expect more spooks than the original. There’ll still be detective elements, however, and you’ll be able to explore the semi-open world to solve optional puzzles and get to the core of the fiction. With the flood aspect, the environment will change throughout the campaign, as the tides rise and fall altering the layouts of buildings.
