Best badges in Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Choosing a badge in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is highly situational, and you’ll want to select different badges based on the level you’re playing. (The badge challenge levels will automatically equip the right badge for the occasion.) Still, four badges are more widely applicable than the rest:

  • Dolphin Kick is essential for any underwater levels. It gives you an underwater boost that not only speeds you up but also allows you to smash bricks, clearing new pathways.
  • If you’re a completionist, and are on the hunt for all Wonder Seeds and 10x coins, you’ll want to equip the Sensor badge and replay levels you’re missing collectibles on. Listen for the ping!
  • Safety Bounce gives you a chance to recover if you mistime a jump and careen into a pit (also known as “playing a Mario game”). For four- and five-star levels, it’s your BFF.
  • Finally, Grappling Vine is a grappling hook — the one thing that improves literally any game. What’s not to like?
