Little Nightmares players can download the first piece of episodic DLC for the game from today. "Howdy, Nevi again. This week we couldnt get enough people together to do a proper podcast. Fortunately, there are a few episodes of the oldcast that havent been reuploaded yet, so here is one of them. In this first ever GamerTime podcast we discuss Street Fighter V and fighting games in general, Mike isnt all that impressed with Unravel, Chris and I talk about the amazing Firewatch, we have some Dying Light chat and finally discuss The Division. A quick reminder that this podcast took place in early 2016, so everything we talk about is out of date but still interesting."

Back in 2011, DC Comics updated their comics universe with the New 52 reboot. It was a way for new readers to jump into the stories where elements of the characters' origins were retold. Unfortunately, bits of history and some of the essence of what made the characters great were lost. When DC released the Rebirth special, we saw the return of the original Kid Flash, Wally West. His return revealed an extremely powerful force was responsible for the changes and omissions in the time line.Wally West has reconnected with the Titans, former sidekicks to DC's big heroes. They are now aware of their…

Neil writes - "It's a big day for EA Access subscribers. Not only do they now get full access to Need For Speed on Xbox One, but the unmistakable Unravel has now also been included."
Those first two join The Vault next Tuesday, EA Access. If you like the occasional EA-published game, own an Xbox One, and are patient enough to hold off on new releases for several months or so, EA Access can be a ridiculous value.
Two big games hit the EA Access program on Xbox One this July 12th with Need for Speed and Unravel joining The Vault. Get some!
Hardcore Gamer: Extraordinarily artistic games need equally compelling music to accompany the action. Unravel has been a massive success for being more than a game about yarn. It is all about finding your way, no matter which direction you take or the obstacles that lie ahead.
According to a statement by EA it looks like there could be a sequel to Unravel.

EB: EA is granting PS4 gamers a free trial of Unravel, which can be downloaded today. The trial is only of the first level though, and Trophies probably will not be earnable, but at least youll get to check out Yarny in action to see if his game is worth playing in full.
Unravel is a beautiful game that has very little to say. Unravel feels like a cornucopia of ideas, stitched together randomly to create a collage which makes little sense, with a story slapped on top that holds little resonance or drive for the player to hold on too. Writes Sean Carr.
Player 2 takes Yarny through a charming adventure in puzzle platforming.
Earnest. Thats the first and lasting impression you get from Coldwood Interactives charming, twee platformer starring Yarny, a faintly demonic-looking woollen doll with a Borrower style perspective of the world. From its debut announcement as a trembling developer introduced Yarny to an international crowd at E3, Unravel has primed itself as an emotional, intensely personal journey. While the game is gorgeous and occasionally tugs at those heartstrings, the full experience doesnt quite land those emotional moments as well as it would like.

Up close and personal with nature and yarn.
Ben at GameSpew writes: "How often is a game released that both appeals to all ages, manages to stun players with its visuals and leaves a lasting impression well after completion? Yeah, it doesnt happen every day. Little Big Planet, while great fun for all the family, became forgettable over time as it spiralled into something of a cash-grab. The LEGO games, for me anyway, became dull quickly with repetitive gameplay and lack of technical progression from game to game. And then came along Unravel."
John Ceccarelli, GIZORAMA - "Theres something therapeutic about swinging around like Spider-Man as a little figure made of yarn while a soft score plays in the background. From the very beginning, this is what I found Unravel to be. There are a few action set pieces, but a lot of relaxing moments spent chasing memories and solving puzzles. Unravel puts the player in control of Yarny, the cute little fellow we all fell in love with when the game was first presented at E3, 2015. In Yarnys shoes, the player must work their way through several puzzle/platforming levels, all inspired by different in-game…
GN: "Unravel is a cute and charming side-scrolling platformer from Coldwood Studios. Originally revealed at EA's E3 2015 conference, the game stars a character made entirely from Yarn and named 'Yarny' appropriately. It features gorgeous visuals that are pleasing to look at and levels that are a delight to explore in the game."
VGChartz's Daniel Carreras: "As excited as I was to finally get my hands on Unravel, I can't help but feel let down. Artistically and graphically it is sublime, and initially at least there are some neat moments to behold, but the rest of the title including, crucially, the gameplay, simply does not hold up to scrutiny."
It's hard to believe that we're in the third year of the life-cycles for the PS4 and Xbox One. With games like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gears of War 4 and more coming up, it's almost like developers haven't been strained by the graphics potential of the console hardware just yet.
As early on in 2016 we may be, Unravel is en route to being a personal favorite all year long.
The gameplay and puzzles can get a bit repetitive even as they get harder in Unravel, but youre often too busy staring at the adorable Yarny and the incredible world she traverses to care all that much. There is a term in Swedish vemod which is best translated as a beautiful melancholy, and the writer can think of no better description for not just the music, but for the game itself.
It may seem cliche or tawdry to describe a game as a journey, or a grand adventure, but if any game is worthy of these descriptions, Unravel is surely the one.
Michael Bowerman of Gaming Rebellion looks at Unravel to show why its unique world offers such a wonderful, explorative gaming experience.
EB: Coldwoods first full fledged game may not be perfect, but its still a memorable experience with a lovable lead character. The gameplay mechanics are strong, but the puzzles arent varied enough to keep you on your toes during the later levels, which should have featured the biggest brain busters of the game. It looks stunning thanks to its unique art direction and visual presentation, and Yarny himself is the definition of charm. The soundtrack is even more beautiful, and helps greatly to relay the emotions of the game and its main character without the need for spoken dialogue. Unravels story…

Dana Abercrombie from The Koalition writes: "Unravel is a wonderful gift to those who need an escape and for those who just love games. Its delightful, charming, and heartfelt. Each moment was like stepping into a photograph made with magic. There arent many games where you feel the love and appreciation the developers have for their project. This game oozes joy from every corner, as if everyone involved is personally thanking you for the experience. My heart warmed with every step I took as as I realized everyone needs a Yarny in their life."
Coldwood Interactive has created something quite special with Unravel. It's just got so much heart and has been created with such care.

Vic B'Stard writes: "I come from a generation of gamers that played rather a lot of platform games back in the day. Mainly because back in the day most games were platform games. That why, these days, I generally avoid them like the plague. There are, of course, exceptions. Unravel is one of those exceptions."
GS: "As our lives move forward, we are bound to meet countless people. Some of them may just walk alongside us for some time and some may stick for the whole run, we do not know who gets to be what, we find out as our bonds survive. Bonds will be thrown everything at them, so only the strongest ones shall live on. Unravel dwells on the idea of human relationships and the different stages they may undergo over time."
It's rare for a modern 2D platformer to be as memorable as Unravel. The incredible amount of imagination put in to craft every moment makes it quite a special experience, but does it live up to its undeniably unique premise?
Kyle from DJ Podcasts writes "Unravel comes to us by Coldwood Interactive and published by Electronic Arts and was conceived after Creative Director at Coldwood Martin Sahlin introduced us to this game at EAs E3 2015 press conference. You can straight away tell that Unravel feels very strongly about love and connections with family as our character Yarny literally is made of Yarn that exists to show the bonds we have for one another in that sense. This is the concept the developers are trying to convey to the player on a deeper level. So this game is very much filled with a lot of heart."
Dana Abercrombie from The Koalition writes: "A doll made out of yarn can be viewed as a simple plaything for kids. But in the hands of Martin Sahlin, Coldwoods Creative Director, its much more, bringing with it broken bonds, missed connections, and forgotten times. The story of Unravel is a journey powered by love and appreciation. And while it doesnt have action sequences, gunplay, or even much dialogue, its a sight to behold. Recently, The Koalition had a chance to speak with Sahlin about bringing Yarny and Unravel to life."

Noah says, "Unravel is the epitome of potential greatness soured by continued sameness. In Unravel, you play as the adorable Yarny, who, you guessed it, is crafted out of yarn materials. Who would have thought something like that, right? Youre introduced to this simple creature from the very beginning and youll journey through lush forests and bleak snowstorms alongside your cute friend. Just ensure your friend doesnt run out of yarn; otherwise, he will face certain eternal deathuntil you respawn, that is."
Starting up Coldwood Interactive Unravel leads to one of two bookends that punctuate the games experience. Directly after the game loads, first-time players are greeted with a kind thank you screen from the entire development team, a play that seems no less sincere as it was when CD Projekt Red gave a physical thank you note alongside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Mere seconds before, publisher Electronic Arts is asking you to concede to their 30-page End User Licensing Agreement before playing the game. The takeaway, from the very start, is that Unravel is a game of two minds trying both to be art…
Ken McKown writes: This generation has seen its fair share of physics-based platformers. Instructing a player on how to handle the puzzles presented before them, and then watching them uncover said puzzles is an addictive formula. When Unravel was unveiled it seemed to be more than that. It seemed to take the ideas of those platformers and toss a new mechanic into the mix, on top of being extraordinarily adorable. Sadly, these ideas never manifest into anything more than frustrations later in the game, and end up making Yarny and his adventure feel painfully average.

MWEB GameZone writes: "Challenging, yet satisfying; cute, but haunting and one of the most beautiful we've ever seen. Unravel might even be one of the greatest games we've ever played."
DSOGaming writes: "Unravel is a really remarkable physics-based puzzle platformer. Developed by Coldwood Interactive, Unravel is a beauty to behold, sporting absolutely lovely visuals. Below you can read our first impressions of it, accompanied by a video showing 9 minutes of gameplay footage."
EA are not always the big bad they are often made out to be, it seems.
Angelo De Bellis from BagoGames writes: Unravel commits to an emotionally charged experience, and it had a powerful effect on me that continues to weave a response that wont fade anytime soon. Accustomed to games with overtly masculine tropes and stereotypes, I was pleased to explore different personal emotions while playing as the cuddly red yarn character, aptly named Yarny. Instead of explicitly telling a story, Unravel is imbued with true storytelling greatnessthat is, it shows and doesnt tell.
Games Asylum: "Unravel is an enticing proposition a potentially glorious combination of EAs big-budget production values and Coldwood Interactives burning desire to share a heartfelt tale with the rest of the world"
Unravel was unveiled at EA's 2015 E3 press conference by its incredibly nervous but endearing creative director. It appeared sweet and charming, stealing the show due to how much it stuck out compared to the usual EA fare. It was a contrast perfectly summed up there and then, when Unravel's trailer gave way to someone dressed a superhero zombie for Garden Warfare 2, prancing around to Kenny Loggins's Danger Zone.
Push Square: "This generation has seen a glut of puzzle platformers grace the PlayStation 4, but fortunately for those interested, Unravel is absolutely one that deserves attention. While it feels like more could have been done with its mechanics, the game's charming and has a great lead character. It's also sublimely presented. It's not quite the epic yarn that we were anticipating, then but Coldwood's meticulous needlework makes it worth a look at least."
Janet from Bit Cultures writes: "While Unravel moved me, the story was scattered. I left Unravel with an amalgam of thoughts and feelings, but nothing tangible. We as the players are forced, as the developers put it, to 'Make of it what [we] will.' While I applaud it for subverting our expectations of storytelling in video games, I condemn it for doing this sloppily: as the game shifts from family/relationships to environmentalism to vaguely both. You can try and connect the themes presented, but you will inevitably run out of yarn. Some may see this as intentional obscurity to mirror the disjointed…
Toby from The Game Bolt: "Ever since Unravel was first announced at E3 in 2015, I was intrigued. What interested me the most wasnt its gameplay, but rather the fact that it is an EA published title. While published by the large corporation, Unravel was actually developed by Coldwood Interactive an independent Swedish developer whose previous titles didnt exactly set the world on fire."
Tyler writes - " At E3 2015, Martin Sahlin won over the crowd at the Electronic Arts press conference with his genuine, nervous reveal of Unravel. Sahlin, the creative director of Coldwater Interactive, gave us a glimpse of Yarny and his travels through Sweden in a shaky voice that showed how important this project was to him and his team. From that moment, Unravel became the talk of the show."
Connected Digital World writes: Truly exceptional game experiences are few and far between these days. Experiences that from start to finish manage to entertain, surprise, resonate and move players. So when one such game comes along and ticks all those boxes it is something very special. Unravel on the surface is a clever puzzle platformer with a cute character.
Melissa from Pixel Dynamo reviewed Coldwood Interactive's adorable puzzle platformer.
OX writes: The time is now, oh video watchers, for Show of the Week, in which we make a woolly abomination out of red yarn and very pointy wire and size up physicsy puzzle platformer Unravel. Please enjoy and mind the sharp ends.
PSA: Unravel, developed by Coldwood Interactive, is clearly a work of great passion. I fell in love with it almost immediately at its E3 2015 unveiling, presented by the adorably nervous yet clearly excited game creator, Martin Sahlin. Despite its gameplay faults, this passion shines through and I felt privileged to have played game that had had so much love poured into it.
Composers Henrik Oja and Frida Johansson, whose studio is across the street from the games developers, worked closely with Sahlin during the games creation to create the evocative and constantly evolving music that underscores Yarnys journey.
PCgamer: "Unravel renders the little world under our feet with dazzling fidelity and grace. It zooms in on sticks and stones and rust, mushrooms, berries, dirt, saltwater-crusted piers, thick snow that bunches and billows around the little yarn figure trudging through it. It reminds me of all the summers I spent sat on the ground playing, following ant trails, poking at mushrooms, ripping out blades of grass to see if I could whistle with them. Unravel is at times a stunning trip to wide-eyed childhood, so it was disappointing to discover how mopey and mean it can also be."
Remember Unravel at E3? Or did the boredom Pelé coming on stage for an hour afterwards wash away your memory of that and every other cherished moment that came before in your life?
This generation of console gaming hasn't been the kind of step forward, the paradigm shift in game design, that has been associated with new console cycles in the past.
Unravel is a special little game, and not just because it had Mike from Gamespresso seriously considering driving to his local craft store to buy some yarn. Its because it simultaneously made him want to call his grandma to tell her he loves her.
Don't let the cynics fool you. There is a great deal of substance with Unravel.
Its got the look of a big-deal indie game, but its all style and zero substance.
Unravel is a gorgeous, thought provoking tale of life. Tackling elements of the joy and tragedy that face us each and every day. The thrill or loss and the inevitability of death. The game expresses this deep, emotional journey through the footsteps of a small inanimate object made of yarn called Yarny. The actual game follows a path similar to the story being told, there are ups and downs. The real question is, when its all said and done, was the journey worth taking?
So, you've heard of Unravel, yeah? Its lead character Yarny is cute as a button, and now its going around being even cuter by being friendly.
Unravel review: Unravel is thoroughly enjoyable, lovely game, but it falls short of being something to be truly cherished.
Gaming Boulevard uploaded their review of Unravel and decided: Unravel offers a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Its a visually stunning adventure filled with creativity. The small Yarny will steal your heart from the first second and wont let you go until you reach the end. The game is filled with interesting challenges and although it fails at some points, it succeeds way more. If youre looking for a unique and unforgettable game, be sure to get Unravel but be warned; Yarny will stick with you for a very long time to come.
Quote: "Thee gaming industry has been losing more and more soul throughout its years thanks to the rampant commercialization and games being carefully crafted and dictated in order to appeal to wider and wider demographics. While the quality has certainly went up, the passion took a sharp downturn. Many games suffer from the same fault of over-committing to the grandiose graphics, the high octane action and the various mechanics. The end product ends up being exactly that: a product. Something that was manufactured for profit and not much else. With that said, its really special when something…
@ve3tro: "Its quite difficult to start a review for Unravel without mentioning that its published by EA. Seeing a publisher mainly known for blockbuster titles invest in a game like Unravel is unusual to say the least. Fortunately, it seems to have paid off with Swedish developer Coldwoods intimate adventure."
Unravel was developed in Sony Interactive Entertainment's multiplatform PhyreEngine. PhyreEngine is a free to use game engine that has been used to develop a wide variety of games across PC, PS3, PS4, PSP and PS Vita.
DSOGaming writes: "Coldwood Interactives Unravel has just been released and below you can view some 4K screenshots from it. Unravel is a physics-based puzzle platformer and Coldwood Interactive has managed to create one of the most beautiful games ever released."
Experience Yarny's adventure through a zoomed in version of our world in a charming puzzle platformer that will pull at your heartstrings.
Is Unravel just a charming platformer, or a disingenuous publicity stunt attempting to show the softer side of a AAA publisher?
From writer Robert Grosso. A simple, emotional journey that is also simple to play, Unravel works at endearing you despite the mundane mechanics behind the journey itself.
TSA: In many ways, Unravel comes as a surprise. For one, EA isnt exactly your go-to publisher when it comes to smaller, riskier projects such as this. Then theres the developer, ColdWood Interactive, itself. Based in Umeå, Sweden which explains a lot about Unravels artistic influences the team has worked on titles such as PlayStation Move Fitness and The Fight which, although serviceable, havent bag them many accolades. With smart gameplay, gorgeous graphics, and a brilliant story to tell, it looks as though Unravel could be ColdWoods first breakout hit and a deserving one at that.
Scotch claims that Unravel tugs at his heart strings in his latest review. But does Unravel spin a good yarn?
AusGamers has reviewed Unravel and writes: "Its all well and good to attempt to tug at heartstrings and take the fun out of these types of games, replacing it with emotion, but the two arent exclusively disparate. You can have both, which is achieved here, so long as you immediately give up on the basic concept of Yarnys mission and look specifically at the game as it actually is: a cute side-scrolling physics-based puzzler with amazing visuals. Anything more is more or less a sleight of hand approach to drawing out potential falsehoods in player feedback. The reality is, I dont know whose memories…
When Martin Sahlin walked on stage and talked passionately about his upcoming title Unravel, his love of the genre and the character he created pulled you in. Unravel was created not to battle it out to become the next blockbuster, but to convey a story of melancholy, of empathy and of how life changes in a blink of an eye.

Colm Ahern: "Puzzle-platformer Unravel is out this week, so why wouldnt Adam and Colm play a bit of it for Blindfold Gaming? They would, obviously. Otherwise there wouldnt be a video, here."
Game Rant: Coldwood Interactives Unravel is a moving puzzle platformer bolstered by strong level design, a creative mechanic, and an unbelievably endearing main character. When Unravel was first revealed back at EAs E3 2015 press conference, most pegged it as the next Ori and the Blind Forest a potentially moving experience featuring a memorable central character, beautiful art, and simple yet effective platforming/puzzle-solving. At the time, the comparisons were apt but still left plenty of questions. Sure, Unravels lead protagonist, Yarny, was cute, but could his adventures sustain a full platforming…
"The heart of Unravel centers on Yarny representing the ties that bind us to loved ones and memories. Its stunning visual presentation is decorated by strands of yarn tied about each level as you progress. Little Yarny is surprisingly emotive as he makes his way though the massive world around him. Whether hes shivering in the rain or picking himself up and dusting himself off after tumbling down a steep incline, its hard not to feel for Yarny as he seeks to be the connection between an old woman and her estranged family. Sometimes he will be strained, stretching himself until he can find the…

Investigate the mysterious of Wyoming's woods, set out on a new yarn-woven platforming adventure and many more!
Unravel is a puzzle-platformer stitched together with a lot of love.
Hardcore Gamer: Many games put us in the shoes of characters that are capable of spectacular feats far beyond our real life abilities, other games immerse us with their stories or put us in the shoes of great heroes as they pursue grand causes and accomplish vast goals. Some games delve deeper, making us solve puzzles and struggle through adversity. Sometimes, games take a even deeper route, plumbing the depth of human interaction, feelings and emotion. Unravel manages to take something from all of these aspects and make something of its own.
Though it has some frayed patches, Coldwood's puzzle platformer is warm and packed with character.
COG writes - Unravel is one of 2016's early hits and is an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Touching, a joy to play and an absolute wonder to take in, you'd be doing yourself a disservice buy skipping over it.
Unravel is part indie and part triple-A, but is it actually good?
GI: "Yarn-based characters have been a surprising trend in recent years, thanks to playful platformers like Kirby's Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Woolly World. While Nintendo's crocheted protagonists and the worlds they inhabit are brimming with unbridled joy, Unravel strikes a bittersweet tone. With little more than a silent protagonist, a grand orchestral score, and a few excerpts of exposition, Unravel delivers style and soul, even if the puzzle mechanics are threadbare."
Polygon: "For all its aesthetic strengths, Unravel isn't knit together very well. In its debut at 2015's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Unravel seemed like a real sleeper hit in the making, with an instantly relatable, cute-as-hell mascot in the form of Yarny, a little red guy with big eyes and an adventure ahead of him. In a show full of violence and over the top presentation, an indie platformer from a handful of Swedish developers calling themselves Coldwood Interactive was the kind of story I wanted to believe in. Yarny is adorable in all the ways I'd want - he's vulnerable and resilient and…
Electronic Arts is not known for dealing in cute. Professional football, military shooters, and Star Wars? Now, thats EA. But a tiny little creature made of yarn may change that perception.
Yarny’s little adventure is the subject of (mostly) great critical reception. Unravel, the EA-published indie game from Sweden, is out tomorrow. Developed by ColdWood Interactive, Unravel gives you control of Yarny, a character made entirely out of yarn. Yarny goes on a journey through Northern Scandinavia, by completing physics-based puzzles and the occasional platforming. The […]
Unravel, which stars a little red knitted character called Yarny, is unusually personal. It is an intimate game, tied to a certain place and time, and it very obviously means something to the people who made it. This post originally appeared on Kotaku UK. Yarny is based on an actual doll that creative director Martin Sahlin knitted whilst out camping with his family. His game, Unravel, is essentially a really good-natured version of Limbo. You move the little yarn gent across the screen from left to right and use twigs, apples, pine cones, branches and whatever else is lying around to solve little…
Unravel is a heart warming puzzle-platformer with a few issues.
Unravel won a lot of praise on its E3 2015 debut for its gentle pastoral ambience, which certainly stood out amid the pyrotechnics of EA's presser. Up close, though, the tone is somewhat cloying and affected, for all the beauty of individual assets and effects.
Gamespot: The audio design is just as impressive. Unravel features no spoken words or narration, with developer Coldwood Interactive instead hinging much of the narrative on the soundtrack. The gamble has paid off tremendously. The aching sorrow of violins and panpipes, along with the inspirited Celtic folk music, swells and stirs along with you. Such musical highs and lows are ideal for this storybook adventure; the tale of a doll brought to life who restores the faded memories of his owner. Unravels wonderful sights and sounds wont escape your own memory so soon. But assessed purely on gameplay,…
IGN: Unravel took me on a surprisingly thoughtful and reflective journey, which encouraged me to appreciate the small and the insignificant with every step. As a puzzler it has charm due to Yarnys engaging skills, but as a platforming experience its less remarkable. But to judge it solely on these mechanical aspects would be to overlook its greater achievement: the way it provokes subtle and complex emotions through the use of nature and nostalgia. It all makes for a sincere, warm-hearted, and extremely likeable adventure.
A touching tail of worry, struggle, loss, but also hope, love and life.

Electronic Arts featured many games at their E3 Press Conference in 2015. From new entries in their Sports franchises to heavy hitters like Star Wars Battlefront to small teases of things like Mass Effect. At that same conference, EA showcased a small unknown title called Unravel. Unravel is a 2D, side scrolling, puzzle platformer developed by Coldwood Interactive. The game was an instant success as the audience watched in silence as little Yarny introduced us to his world.
Scandinavian based Coldwood Interactive's rather neat physics based platformer Unravel comes to Xbox One, PS4 and PC and offers a likeable character Yarny and his seemingly never-ending twine which guides him through some incredible adventures.
ThisGenGaming says "In conclusion, Unravel is an excellent tale of life, love and family. The art style and ambience of the game really enforce the creators passion and details of the story he is trying to tell. The melancholy music has a sense of hope while at the same time serving as reinforcement to the tale of sadness."
During our lunch break, we tried Unravel in 4K using Nvidia's DSR and captured the footage with Amarec in 1080p, as it was the only way to have 60 fps gameplay. It may not look that different, contrary to a game like Project CARS which looks way better like this, but it still allowed us to get rid of the minor traces of aliasing that could be seen. As a bonus, you'll find a gallery of 5K images Miguel took earlier.
TSA: With Unravels release less than a week away, EA have created a demo of sorts for EA Access and Origin Access subscribers, letting players get their hands on the first two levels tomorrow. Jim and I have both been able to sample this ahead of time, and so we dove in to discuss the first two levels, the adorable character of Yarny and the games puzzle platforming.
Unravel launches worldwide on February 9, 2016 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 but EA Access and Origin Access members can try it starting today.

Unravel is now available for trial if you have subscribed for EA Access on Xbox One or PC, so here is a couple of videos we captured on PC this morning. Unsurprisingly, the game's atmosphere and graphics are absolutely charming right from the start. Let's now hope it can remain fresh and appealing throughout the adventure. We'll see that next week when the game finally ships on Origin, Playstation Store and Xbox Live.
Adam Cook: "While Colm beavers away at writing the review of the Unravel (the game that won hearts at E3 last year), I managed to steal the game away for a bit and play the first two levels, which youll be able to play soon via EA Access/Origin Access, if youre a subscriber on Xbox One or PC. Its an interesting game, and definitely a good looking one."
PSU pulled some strings to get hands on with EA's Unravel on PS4. When a quiet, slightly nervous, yet eager-looking man walked onto the stage at EAs E3 press conference last year, clutching a small red figure made of wool, it was hard to know what to expect.
Unravel is a game from Coldwood Interactive and published by EA. The game will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 9th for $19.99. Earlier this week GVN got the chance to fly up to EA and play Unravel entirely. Here is their first impressions of the first two levels.
HG: We've been lucky enough to have early access to Coldwood Interactive's upcoming puzzle game Unravel. This is actually the second chance we've had to play it after spending time at Coldwood Interactive's studio in December. During our visit, we were able to play through the first two levels. This time, however, we were able to sink our teeth into those same levels in the comfort of familiar environments (not to mention we didn't have the game's creator Martin Sahlin looking over our shoulder).
GR: You didnt expect to fall in love with a tiny red string creature during EAs E3 presentation last year did you? When Swedish indie studio Coldwoods Martin Sahlin appeared on the stage with his very own homemade Yarny, the collective hearts of the gaming world duly melted. And it turns out we had a good reason to go all squishy. Having played the first two levels of Yarnys adventures in Unravel I can without a doubt tell you that this game would like nothing more than to very gently break your heart. It would also probably like to break your controller, with its occasional Oh God, why dont I…

Unravel, the adorable-looking upcoming indie game published by Electronic Arts, will get to keep its name, despite recent government filings that suggested this might not be the case.According to Unravel's USPTO page (via NeoGAF), the organization informed EA in June 2015 that its trademark for Unravel covering video game software was refused. That was because, the USPTO said in a 123-page document, there was a "likelihood of confusion" with another company's Unravel trademark. That other company is SimplyFun, LLC, and the product in question is a children's board game called Unravel. SimplyFun's…

Forbes: With all the noise and pizazz at last months Electronic Entertainment Expo it took me a while to hunt down Unravel. Its unusual game-play mechanics and oblique storytelling made me glad I did.
SegmentNext - The E3 2015 was full of surprises and ambitious projects that left fans in awe. One such project that we witnessed at the expo was Unravel by Coldwood Interactive. The game is a physics-based puzzle-platformer and revolves around a small anthromorphic creature named Yarny.

Leo Stevenson -- "Unravel is an incredibly strong contender for the title of my favourite game at E3 2015. PSU goes hands-on with Unravel at this year's E3.
COG writes: In a world where games can be mindless escapes from real life, Unravel is a heartfelt and meaningful story that also happens to play like a dream.
Unravel is EA's new video game IP that's completely beautiful and screams piece of art. It follows the journey of a little figure named yarny who's made of yarn, as he travels to reconnect the memories of his loved ones and connecting with the hearts of the player on the way.
Garrett from The Koalition writes: Shigeru Miyamoto once revealed that he draws inspiration for his games from whatever hes into. For instance, he created The Legend of Zelda based on his childhood memories of exploring the Kyoto countryside, and his passion to recreate the sense of awe he felt resonated with gamers throughout the world. Coldwood studios Unravel will probably not reach the level of popularity that the Zelda franchise has earned, but the team certainly exhibits a passion similar to Miyamoto's.
Yarny is the adorable hero of Unravel, and his journey through E3 not only captured the imagination of twitter, but it will positively melt your heart.
Unravel was a pleasant surprise at this years EA conference. Amidst ATATs and sports and other sports stood a small red figure of yarn. Nothing felt quite so genuine as Martin Sahlin, standing onstage presenting his creation with a shaking voice and hands. Despite the days flashing lights, booming bass, and hi-tech trailers, nothing stood out so much as this purely human moment.
A look back at the EA Press Event at E3 that may have gone into less detail on Mass Effect Andromeda than one author wanted but had lots of quality and a very "Un-EA" title in Unravel which really impressed.
The most visually-impressive game EA showed wasn’t Battlefront or Mirror’s Edge. It was this indie game that we don’t yet know much about. Unravel, the small indie game that EA debuted at its E3 briefing wowed everyone watching. But we didn’t see any gameplay that night. Thankfully, we have some gameplay to watch today, to […]

Since there is no sign of any direct feed videos from EA (other than Youtube that is), we decided to edit the replay of our French live stream of the press conference to show you the trailer of Unravel. It is without a doubt a game that makes us want to slam our money down, so enjoy. Note: You'll hear Blim typing at some point so we apologize but there was no other way we could show you this jewel.
For the moment Unravel is my favorite game of this E3, with a beautiful presentation (hopefully coming soon) by a clearly passionate developer, so while waiting for a video here are some screenshots!
Today during their E3 press conference, EA unveiled Unravel, a new game from Swedish indie developer Coldwood Studios.Unravel is a puzzle platformer about a character made from yarn.
